A couple of days ago I received a message from a 5th-grade teacher in Rhode Island regarding a former student of mine. She wanted to share a special assignment that the student had completed. The final assignment of the year was to write about a special person that has made a significant impact on their life or on them. Needless to say, her words brought tears to my eyes and reminded me of why I sacrifice so much to continue teaching, despite my declining health.

My students continue to inspire me. It is my life that has been touched forever.
