Laura Heyd has been suffering from debilitating and declining health since 2013 and has had many medical concerns leading up to this point. Many of you know her as a friend or former first-grade teacher. She currently has several diagnoses, which include Carcinoid Syndrome, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, and Graves Disease.
On a daily basis, she suffers from nausea, vomiting, body swelling, facial edema, wheezing/difficulty breathing, extreme body pain, fatigue, etc. Laura reacts severely to triggers in her environment that include temperature changes, physical movement, foods and beverages, medicines, natural odors, chemical odors, perfumes and scents, clothing materials, and sunlight.
Laura continues to work with a variety of doctors and specialists. Her condition is ever evolving as they try different treatments, medications and lifestyle adaptations. Unfortunately, conditions like this are not always black and white or easy to understand. However, Laura puts on a brave face and continues to maintain a positive attitude each day.
